Yr 7 Drama is an experience for our younger students to learn basic skills in Drama. This involves non-verbal communication, characterisation, playbuilding, puppetry and story telling. There is no exam in Yr 7 Drama and almost all assessments are practical and constructing collages or puppets. Drama in Year 7 is once a cycle for one hour.

  • Year 8 Drama takes place once a cycle. Throughout 2008 students are introduced to the basic skills of Improvisation, learn how to make and use Masks and finally devise an original piece of theatre with skills learned in Playbuilding.

Students are required to have an A4 logbook which they use to reflect on exercises done in class. Homework for Drama consists of out-of-class rehearsal for the relevant assessments throughout the year.

  • In Year 9 Drama students learn to use their bodies and voices as tools for creating meaning. This is explored through playbuilding, improvisation and the study of other theatrical traditions.

  • Year 10 engages students in learning about and performing many different dramatic styles and forms. From Shakespeare to children's theatre to performing their own scripted drama, students learn how to perform for many different audiences. Design and production also becomes important in Yr 10 and is the focus of Term 2. All assessments are available in each topic area.

  • In Year 11 Drama students explore both realist and non-realist performance techniques. They then use these skills in ensemble and individual tasks. This course operates as an introduction to the structure of the HSC Drama Course.

  • Year 12 Drama explores the topics of Contemporary Australian Theatre, Approaches to Acting, Group Performance and a variety of Individual Projects chosen by the student.
