Using ProQuest ELibrary

ProQuest ELibrary is an online subscription database that allows you to search for full text documents, such as newspapers, magazines, books and TV and radio transcripts, as well as maps, audio and video and pictures. This is an excellent resource for current information.

You can limit your search by date or publication and various other options towards the bottom of the page including emphases on Business, Health or Scholarly works.

TO SEARCH:

Decide on the keywords or search terms you want to use.

Click on the link on the Library website to ProQuest ELibrary under Libraries Online.  

Login and password are the same for all the existing databases (check your Library Guide or ask Library staff). Click on the orange box called My products page below the login and password boxes to go to our subscription.

On the next screen click on the blue box or hyperlink - ELibrary Australia (You will see our school name indicating you are on our subscription database).

A page with colourful icons will come up. Click on Clear all and then tick the types of resources you would like to access, e.g. Newspapers, Magazines.

Enter your search term/s into the search box.  Click on Search.

The icons on the left of the screen show you the type of document each one is.

Click on the links to the documents to choose the best for your purpose. You can choose to Go to the best part, to Print or to Email the article to yourself. You can also create a list of links to the full-text articles by clicking on the blue cross. When you have selected the ones you want click on the tab, My List and then email the list to yourself. It will come up as links to the full articles which you can access whenever it suits you.

On the opening page you can Browse publications or Search topics.

The tabs at the top of the page also allow you to search dictionaries and encyclopedias through the Reference Desk tab.  The Topics tab allows you to browse Topics.
