When you choose Blank

Choose the top
left box for a title slide. Click on OK.
Click within
the title box to enter your title OR use WordArt on the Drawing
Toolbar in the same way as in Word.
Change the
colour of fonts or boxes with the Drawing Toolbar as you do in Word.
|
3.
To check that the Drawing
Toolbar is available, go
to VIEW – Toolbars and make sure the Drawing Toolbar is
ticked.
With this toolbar, you can make
fancy headings, text boxes, change colours of boxes and fonts, add
clip art, draw shapes, etc.
You can also do this via the INSERT
menu.
|
4.
To make a new slide, go
to the slide icon under SLIDE SHOW.
Again you are given a choice of
layouts. You can choose charts, columns, bulleted lists and blank
layouts and alter them how you like.
Choose the
Text and Clip Art slide on the bottom row of the first column. Add the
title at the top, add the text on the left. Then double click the clip
art side, choose your clip art and click OK.
|
5.
To save your
work, click on the disk icon on the toolbar.
When the Save in box
comes up, change where you
want to save it – e.g. Drive C: My
Documents or 3 ½ floppy (A:).
Make sure the type of file is
‘Presentation’ and click
Save.
|
6.
Click on the picture icon on the
Drawing Toolbar to bring
up Clip Art OR use INSERT –
Picture – Clip Art on the drop down menu.
Select your
picture and click on the top selection box, Insert Clip.
|
7.
To resize a picture, click on it
to make the small white boxes appear around it.
Move your cursor to one of the
corner boxes and drag it to the size you want it to be.
You will see an arrow. If you move the cursor over one of the white
boxes on the side or top it will also stretch the picture but distort
it.
To move the picture, click inside it and drag it to where you want it
to be, holding the mouse button down. You will see a cross-with-arrows
symbol.
|
8.
To add a text box, click on the
icon that looks like a typed page with a big A on the Drawing toolbar.
When you click on the slide with
the mouse drag it to the width you want and this will bring up a box
into which you can type and it will expand as you go.
|
9.
In Powerpoint you can make your
words or text do CRAZY things - like flying and flashing…
To animate
your text, select or highlight it with your mouse.
Go to SLIDE
SHOW – Custom animation. Choose your animation. Test it by
running your slide show.
|
10.
Timing means setting how
fast you want your slides to move along during the show.
Go to SLIDE
SHOW – Slide Transition. You can select On mouse click OR
you can choose Automatically after and enter the number of
seconds you want to show each slide. Then click Apply to All.
Transition means changing
from one slide to another. There are many effects you can choose –
dissolving, fading, blinds, etc. – and speeds.

above at bottom left of screen or go to SLIDE SHOW – View
